Nitro PDF on Mac -Weak Step-sister
I have moved from PDFPenPro on Mac High Sierra to Nitro PDF Pro on Ventura 13.5.
The biggest change is in the creation stage of a new PDF. If I choose a size of 8-1/2x11 or 4x5, I want to see that exact size and layout (incl. type size, picture size and spacing, etc.) on the screen where it can be measured @100%. Similarly if I save a test copy as a pdf, it will be the correct size when the pdf is opened with Preview. This can be done on the older PDFPenPro. Instead, what Nitro does is give you a roughly 6x8 screen image for any creation, which is then scaled to the "desired" size based upon the paper size for printing. If you print a pdf, despite specifying 8-1/2x11 in the print routine, you get a pdf image which @100% is roughly 6x8. If I email that image to someone, I have no idea how it will print or show on their screen. This problem does NOT exist in the older PDFPenPro.
Worse, the Help tab does not give anything remotely like a manual, rather a disconnected series of topics, none of which addresses this issue!
I purchased Nitro (at the Nitro website's instruction) from the Apple App Store - therefore, I received no email or serial number which is needed to get help.
It is possible the PC version is superb, however, the MAC version is totally sub-par. There was not a way for me to test the Mac version before purchase - it had to be purchased ar the App Store to then "test" it.
I purchased it because Nitro represented that they had acquired PDFPenPro, but I never expected them to produce an emasculated version for Mac users. BEWARE BEFORE BUYING. I WOULD GLADLY TRADE IN THIS SUBPAR PROGRAM FOR MY MONEY BACK.
