I just lowered my Star rating from a 5 to a 4, because I went to make a cute CD with family files in several folders. I wanted to present the CD's to my family with all these cute & silly images on each folder. After I burned the CD I popped it in another computer and all the personalization THIS APP creates was GONE??? Am I doing something wrong? Or does this only work within the Mac Computer you originally have these fun folders made in? Very sad that it remains only personal entertainment to myself on my own computer. I can't share my creations with others. BUMMER other than that it is cool to have but simply for self gratification. If there is a way to actually SHARE my own images I post on the folders with others then I would return my star rating to a 5
This app is great, I was using another app called “Folder Magic” but it is no longer available in the app store, came across this one looking for another application for folders. Very simple instructions, do not over think the steps - choose your folder, drag the folder you want to change into the black box in the lower left corner of the app, and click done; its’s that simple. Needs a little work though, intermittently have to restart the app to change multiple folders, and sometimes have to restart the computer in order to see the folder changes. FYI: if you see that the folder doesn’t change immediatley, just restart your computer and the changes will be there.
I found at first that the instructions were slightly vague. Once I had figured our that they wanted me to put my folder into the black box to recieve its artwork, then things got better. I don’t know if anything was changed from the older versions, I’m using 1.1.8, but perhaps a colored box around the area that I was to drag my folder into and instructions saying something, like drag folder inside red box might have been clearer even if not as graphically appealing in appearence.
Icons are well executed but really more for children than adults. Banking, trucks, foods, coins, objects that would relate to adult tastes seem to be lacking.
Also - no search to help limit your needed choices - you have to constantly scroll through the images field. I really do not see anything more than a bunch of icons that you need to scroll through to get your target image.
So - nice imagery, geared to kids (which is fine if that is what was intended), more needed adult graphics for serious daily needs are recommended.
I've only started using it today but it is super easy to use and they have a lot of folders to chose from. I just wish you could edit the color on the folder if you wanted more variety in color. Also when you have already changed a folder color and you go to change it again it bounces back to the previouse folder color you selected. What is up with that? Besides those 2 things I love it.
I've been looking for a folder icon app to liven up my desktop and all my other folder apps don't work on Catalina. This is the only app I know that can change the shape of the folder along with the icon.
Another reviewer was correct...they could use "categories" since there are so many choices.
The choices are set icon- and shape-wise, but there are quite a few!
Great options to customize my home screan, but this app would benefit greatly by including a search option, or at the very least being able to size up the app to view more folders at once.
I was looking for a way to make my desktop folders unique from one another. This is very easy to use and has a great selection of folders. My only suggestion would be to add a feature that allows you to select categories of folder (ex. landscapes, cartoons, etc). Scrolling through all the folders can be tedious.
I have purchased this app 2 times. I love the icon choices and it works simply. I used it to apply icons to several folders, then after I close the app it never works again. I contacted the developers twice when I purhased it a year or so again, but no response. I purchased it again and used on most of my folders. I just updated my Mac to 17.1.1 and all the folders reversed to blue again. I tried to make the app work again, but no luck.
The Software has potential, but it is not finished up to now. If you need pre-installed layouts it fine, but if you want to create your one skins, it’s not the solution for you. There ist no way to resize the picture you drag in to the folder. That means you have to create the perfect size of the picture before you drop it. I think it would be a nice addon if the picture could be flexible customized. But if you need folders out of the box without your personal touch then the app is fine.
Having hundreds of folders everywhere on my computer has driven me crazy for years! This simple app is two steps: 1. find a Folder Icon you like 2. Drag your own boring folder into place and you are done!!!

I just started using this program, and so far I love it. I successfully changed six icons. Four of them I changed to selections that were offered in this application, and two others I changed to images from files. Very nice, thank you!
The biggest challenge I found is in the UI where I have to scroll through the massive (my opinion) set of icons. It would be nice to search the icon names or tags -- for example, search for icons related to music or books (ebooks)
Great little app to bring some fresh and fun ideas to your daily journey through files on your computer. Also is a great way to make certain files easily identifiable. Worth the small price.
This app takes an existing graphic and superimposes it onto a folder outline. It then creates a PNG image that you must then make into a folder. I use Img2icns for that. If you have an image, you can bypass Folder Icons altogether. They do have a large set of graphics to choose from. It would be much better if it could actually create a folder.
Latest OS update reset folders and when I tried to get it back to what it was, it didn't work. I can however use pre-existing folder designs and drag and drop. If I try by opening files, it doesn't work.
Just downloaded but it doesn't work properly. Either nothing happens or the wrong folder on the desktop gets colored.
Looks like MacOS won't let changes to alias folder icon. The way to make a change is to color the original then make the alias. Who knew?
I absolutely love this app. I love changing how each one of my folders look. The choices are plentiful and so many fun designs to choose from. I recommend this to everyone. Well worth it!

Love using this app. It's very easy to navigate and makes your desktop look great! Only thing I wish is that they had access to even more artwork and photos.
So many options; extremely simple; saves time from the way I was color coding and chaning icons. Only suggestion is to have categories—maybe by color, design, etc.
I just came across it by accident and I check all the reviews which are GREAT reviews. I download it and I just fall in LOVE :) with it. This is so so COOL! It makes my desktop folders look so amazing. I definitely would hight requiemend it.
Have been having trouble following the instructions, but am able to use work-arounds to utilize the folder. Perhaps I’m just rusty with new apps, but I keep blowing away old icons that I’ve used for a long time. I may update my review down the road.
This app was definitely promising. It has a large collection of interesting icons, everything from animals to pop culture. Alas, it will no longer open, even after multiple reinstalls. It might be a High Sierra compatibility thing but I’m not sure.

After the last update, adding my own images no longer as before, instead they now are strtched into squares. Contacted support and received no response.
This app is overkill in the number of images it generates and the fussy process necessary to slap a png onto a folder. For 1/5 of the cost Folder Engine does it simpler and faster.
